Michigan has a lot of license plate options and recently added legacy license plates in your choice of black or blue.

I remember when you only had one choice for your Michigan license plate. Whatever that plate was is what you had for a few years until the state went with something new.

I still think the coolest Michigan license plate was the Bicentennial plate that came out in 1976. I wish I had kept the one from my parent's car when they got a new one.
Michigan has had a lot of different license plates and is bringing back two legacy plates to add to your list of choices next time you get yours online or at the Secretary of State.

Michigan Legacy License Plates Are Available to Order in Black or Blue
The Michigan Secretary of State is offering Michiganders more options for legacy license plates. The black plate pictured above is an option this year. The black plates were missed from 1979-1983.
The legacy plate in blue is another option for Michiganders to purchase this year. I have had a couple of the blue ones but wouldn't mind getting one of the black ones. The blue legacy plates were issued from 1983-2007.
I will probably hold off on the black legacy plate since in 2026 Michiganders will be able to get their hands on the Semiquincentennial plate like the one from 1976. I have a feeling this will be a very popular plate.
If you want to get one of the black or blue legacy plates all the information can be found here.
