When I was a kid, if there was a baby around you better believe there was a container of baby powder. Every time I witnessed a diaper change and baby cleanup, it would end with a dousing of baby powder. No one thought anything of it at the time.

In the last 10 years, baby powder companies have taken a beating after the World Health Organization announced that talc which contains asbestos can cause cancer in humans. Several major baby powder manufacturers have been sued for millions.

Baby powder is made with talc which is mined from areas where asbestos is sometimes present therefore, if it gets in baby powder or talcum powder, babies and adults could catch cancer.  50 women once sued Johnson & Johnson who suffered from ovarian cancer from baby powder that contained asbestos. Breathing talcum powder or baby powder can cause serious lung problems.

According to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA), Dynarex Corporation has recalled baby powder and additional products due to a possible health risk. Dynacare baby powder has been tested and found to be tainted with asbestos. If you have Dynacare Baby Powder item number 4875 or 4874 you need to stop using the product,  return it at your point of purchase for a refund, or get rid of it immediately.

35 states are part of the recall and Michigan is not on the list, but many people shop on Amazon and could have easily ordered the baby powder online.

Johnson & Johnson Baby Powder Lawsuit

Montana will receive $3.5 million from a Johnson & Johnson lawsuit settlement over tainted baby powder. Attorney General Knudson is holding the company accountable for violating consumer protection laws.
