Sledding is arguably the Michigan experience. Every kid looks forward to sledding when it snows and if you don't have a near-death experience from a rogue sledding incident, you aren't doing it right (shoutout to my sibling who got a concussion from flying face-first into a tree).

While some people are fortunate enough to have a sledding hill by their house, many people either don't have one, or the thrill seekers out there are looking for the biggest and best hills to go down. Well, worry not, because these hills around Grand Rapids are all free and provide everyone with a great time.

Before we get into the full list, I want to share my favorite sledding hill. Belknap Park, behind Griff's Icehouse, offers one huge hill with plenty of space for multiple people to have fun and not worry about running into each other. The hill is free and is a bunch of fun, just bring your own sled and have a blast.

Nearby is another good sledding hill located just up the street from Belknap Park is East Leonard Elementary School, which has a long gradual hill that has lights along the hill. Two great options in Downtown GR.

However, these other hills are also great options for you and the family to visit.
