Only in Detroit could honesty go this viral. A TikTok user who goes by @sexxxiiyyycoco45 has blown up online after posting a video from a gas station on 7 Mile that’s getting a lot of attention online. It’s not for their low prices, but for their unapologetic honesty.

In her video, she walks through the aisles showing shelf labels that literally say things like “Out of date but still good.”

Yes, you read that right. Whole sections of candy, chips, and snacks are marked down (some to just a dollar) with signs admitting they’re past their “best by” dates.

To be fair, most candy doesn’t technically “expire” the way that milk or other products do. It just loses a bit of freshness over time. Still, it’s not every day you see a store publicly advertise that fact.

And the TikTok creator couldn’t stop laughing about it, joking her way through each aisle as she panned across the “discounted” goodies.

(Warning there is some NSFW language in this video)

It’s worth noting that in Michigan, it’s illegal to sell expired food, but the law doesn’t really spell out what happens when something is just past its best-by date. So, is this gas station technically breaking the law? That’s a gray area.

Either way, I think I’ll pass on the bargain bin Snickers and just pay full price somewhere else. But you’ve got to admit that in a world full of fine print, there’s something oddly refreshing about a store being that upfront.
