What You Need to Know: 6 New Bills Now in Effect in Michigan

• House Bill 4132 and House Bill 4133 will allow the use of safety cameras in marked road work zones. The goal is to deter speeding and ensure compliance with traffic laws in areas where construction is taking place, protecting workers and drivers.

• Increased Penalties for Violations: House Bill 4928 and House Bill 4929 introduce stricter penalties for moving violations that occur in work zones. These changes are intended to enhance the safety of road construction sites by discouraging reckless driving behaviors that could endanger workers.

• Enhanced Traffic Regulation Compliance: The new laws also require local authorities to enforce traffic regulations more rigorously, particularly in high-risk areas such as school zones and busy intersections.
