Grand Rapids’ Newest Coffee Shop Brings Unique Yemen Flavor to Local Scene
I love nothing more than a local coffee shop, especially when they have a unique cup and know your name as soon as you walk through the door.
That's why I'm so excited to see that a brand new, locally owned coffee shop has popped up in what was once a Starbucks here in Grand Rapids. Not only is it taking over the shell of a dead corporate coffee ghost, it's also unlike any other cup that you'll find in the city. So if you're sick of the chains and want something new, you may want to make this your next stop.

Grand Rapid's newest coffee shop is Qahwah House, and they pride themselves in serving unique, premium coffee from Yemen. While most of the coffee you enjoy is sourced from Columbia, Brazil and other South American countries, coffee from the Middle East usually comes with a unique flavor profile unlike anything you've experienced before.
They're located inside the Starbucks that closed on the East Beltline just in front of Celebration Cinema's North (Knapp's Crossing), at2107 E Beltline Ave NE. While they are the third location in Michigan, this is the first one on the west side of the state.
They opened earlier in March, making this one of your first chances to taste what they're bringing to Grand Rapids unique coffee scene.
As for the other drinks on their menu, they have a unique twist too. I had their iced chai latte which came served with honey and evaporated milk, and the spice and kick brought me to life.
They also have some incredibly beautiful and tasty baked goods, including this honeycomb pastry that caught my eye immediately when I walked in.
While you shouldn't expect to find the same types of drinks you once saw in this old Starbucks location, this new flavor and spice to Knapp's Corner is well overdue and will hopefully be appreciated.
